Begin with 2 chain for turning (step 1). 2 
Then yarn over hook (step 2). -

Insert hook into third stitch to left of hook (step 3). 4 
Yarn over hook and draw through a loop, ( 3 loops on hook) (4, 5 steps). -

Yarn over hook and draw through 3 loops on hook (1 loop remains on hook) steps 6, 7). -

For next half treble / half double crochet: insert hook into next stitch to left of the hook and work 2-7 steps.
